Longtime European Patent Monetization Firm Returns to US Litigation

July 14, 2023

New patents in hand, Papst Licensing GmbH & Co., KG has returned to US litigation. This past week the German monetization firm sued Samsung (2:23-cv-00322), a familiar defendant for Papst, over the support of the “Floating Camera Button Feature” in certain Galaxy-series smartphones. In the Eastern District of Texas complaint, the plaintiff asserts two patents generally related to moving a shutter button on the “touch-sensitive” display of a device equipped with a front and rear-facing camera. Papst received them in an assignment executed and recorded with the USPTO this past May.
