The WebSocket protocol is in the spotlight of a new litigation campaign initiated by Websock Global Strategies LLC. That plaintiff just sued CloudFlare (6:23-cv-00746), Plivo (6:23-cv-00747), Pusher (6:23-cv-00748), and Quest Software (SonicWALL) (6:23-cv-00749) in the Western District of Texas and Fortinet (2:23-cv-00504) in the Eastern District of Texas, targeting the provision of various products that support the protocol. A single patent broadly directed to symmetric communications between a browser and a server is asserted against each defendant.
