New Campaign Targets Retailers over Apple Pay

November 12, 2023

Monticello Enterprises, LLC has filed its first litigation, suing Macy’s (several subsidiaries, including Bluemercury) (6:23-cv-00753), Petco (6:23-cv-00761), and Starbucks (6:23-cv-00763) over the support of Apple Pay for making payments in their e-commerce websites, mobile apps, and/or in-store point-of-sale (POS) terminals. Four mobile device payments patents are asserted against all three defendants, with two browser-based payments patents in suit against Macy’s and Petco. Monticello Enterprises pleads that it is “organized and existing under the laws of the State of Maryland”, but that appears not to be true.
