X1 Discovery Opens Up Search Campaign

December 29, 2023

In a new Central District of California complaint, X1 Discovery, Inc. has accused Microsoft (8:23-cv-02415) of infringing two search patents through support for the Microsoft Search feature in laptops preinstalled with Microsoft Windows 10 or 11, as well as the Microsoft Windows 10, 11, and 365 operating systems and services themselves. Separately, X1 has filed a complaint before the International Trade Commission (ITC) naming as proposed respondents Acer, ASUSTek, and Dell (337-TA-3714), targeting support for Microsoft Search in certain laptops with three related patents. Companion district court cases have been filed in the Central District of California, against Acer (2:23-cv-10674) and ASUSTek (2:23-cv-10672), and in the Western District of Texas, against Dell (6:23-cv-00872).
