Inventor-Controlled Japanese Plaintiff Hits Amazon and Apple in First Litigation

January 10, 2024

Inventor-controlled NL Giken, Inc. has filed its first litigation, suing Amazon (Twitch) (1:24-cv-00028) and Apple (1:24-cv-00013) in the District of Delaware over a wide array of hardware and software products ranging from smartphones to streaming platforms, with features related to content sharing, emergency communications, streaming, and video conferencing at issue. The plaintiff, having apparently been formed in Japan by the inventor to “develop and license” his inventions, asserts overlapping sets of ten patents broadly directed to various aspects of computing, image storage, and wireless communications.
