Another Texas NPE managed by patent attorney Stephen McArthur has launched a litigation campaign. Soverain IP LLC has accused Microsoft (2:17-cv-00204) of infringing six patents (5,708,780; 6,212,634; 6,279,112; 7,191,447; 8,606,900; 8,935,706) and Apple (2:17-cv-00207) of infringing four of them (the ‘780, ‘634, ‘447, and ‘706 patents). The patents generally relate to various aspects of network communications, and the NPE identifies a wide list of accused products for each defendant. Soverain IP’s voluminous complaints detail the development of the patents-in-suit, which belong to a portfolio with members that have been previously litigated in the Eastern District of Texas.
