Podiatrist Turned Pro Se Plaintiff Drops a Second Shoe on Facebook and Twilio
Individual inventor, pro se plaintiff, and South Florida podiatrist Steven J. Kaniadakis has filed a second, more extensive complaint against Facebook and Twilio (8:17-cv-01346), a few weeks after he filed the first. Both complaints allege infringement of a single patent (8,666,772) generally related to medical billing systems, accusing the defendants of infringing claim 15, which more particularly relates to making phone calls using a computer software interface. Kaniadakis targets Salesforce’s CRM software and Twilio’s VoIP platform with “prima fascia” evidence of patent infringement in a complaint written with sometimes challenging grammar. Both complaints also allege trademark infringement, the first one fitting both legal claims into a 30-page document while this second, more recent complaint spans over 250 pages.
