Touch-Sensing Patents with Gaming Origins Asserted Against Apple

September 30, 2017

Anascape, Ltd. has revived litigation over its portfolio of patents, asserting four of them in a new lawsuit against Apple (9:17-cv-00173). Anascape’s patents broadly concern game controllers and other electronic devices with analog sensors for detecting pressure, typically from a user’s finger. Indeed, the NPE has accused Apple of infringement through provision of its Nimbus controller (as well as other MFi controllers) but also through provision of the iPhone, Watch, and MacBook. Anascape’s last case, filed in July 2006 against Microsoft and Nintendo, ended in a Federal Circuit reversal of a jury verdict in the NPE’s favor.
