Samsung’s Smartphone Security Tools at Issue in Inventor-Backed Plaintiff’s First Litigation
Inventor-controlled OS-New Horizons Personal Computing Solutions Limited (OSNH) has initiated its first litigation with a suit against Samsung (2:24-cv-00634) in the Eastern District of Texas. The plaintiff asserts a single patent generally related to using biometric sensors and a “life signs detector” to secure personal data and documentation files, with the defendant accused of infringement through the provision of smartphones (e.g., the Galaxy S21 and subsequently released Galaxy S-series smartphones) that support functionality for “storing and managing personal and secure data and files” through their Knox Vault, Face Unlock, and Fingerprint Unlock features.
