Interest Groups, 100+ Companies, Urge Amendments to the FRCP to Require Disclosure of TPLF
More than 120 companies, spanning multiple industries, sent a letter this week to the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules seeking a “uniform and efficient procedure for disclosure” of third-party litigation funding (TPLF). It has been three years since the Advisory Committee last discussed TPLF, according to the Lawyers for Civil Justice (LCJ) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform (ILR), which submitted a Rules Suggestion letter alongside the companies’ correspondence. The Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet on October 10 to discuss whether it will embark on what the committee has previously described as a potentially “challenging TPLF project”.
