Ramey LLP has filed a new Western District of Texas complaint for plaintiff ProudLion IP LLC, accusing Amazon (7:24-cv-00297) of infringing a single patent generally related to a system for modifying the “operation and appearance of a portable computing device”. The plaintiff targets the provision of the SKG Smart Watch, highlighting various interface customization and device interaction capabilities. Earlier in this campaign, a pair of Southern District of Texas judges ruled, respectively, that ProudLion IP’s allegations, contained in a chart that “does no more than give a screenshot from [a] website, without context, followed by a conclusory statement”, did not plausibly plead a claim for infringement; and that the claims of ProudLion IP’s asserted patent are ineligibly directed to the abstract idea of “changing the appearance and audio settings of a mobile or portable device”.
