Compact Lens Technologies LLC, an affiliate of monetization firm IP Valuation Partners LLC (d/b/a IPVal), has launched its first litigation campaign over one of 14 US patents that RPX noted were received by the NPE from Intellectual Discovery Co., Ltd. in October 2017. Compact Lens accuses Apple (6:18-cv-00042), Huawei (6:18-cv-00043), and Microsoft (6:18-cv-00044) over the cameras used in certain smartphone and tablet computing devices. The new complaints focus on claim 12 (and its dependents) of the asserted patent, which broadly concerns a “photographic lens”, made up of four separate lenses recited in a particular configuration.
