Inventor-Backed Plaintiff Begins Campaign Targeting Mobile Apps Using QR Codes

January 24, 2025

QR Switch LLC has filed separate Eastern District of Texas suits against QuikTrip (2:25-cv-00065) and Walmart (Sam’s Club) (2:25-cv-00064) over the provision of mobile apps that allow customers to use QR codes to “pay at the pump for gasoline”. Wesley Boudville, the sole named inventor for the two asserted patents—generally related to displaying a URL-encoded barcode that can be scanned by a device to access a website—is identified in the new complaints as a member of QR Switch.
