MR Technologies Seeks to Leverage Verdict in “Three-Player Market”

MR Technologies, GmbH has filed separate complaints against Seagate Technology (with multiple subsidiaries) (0:25-cv-01460) and Toshiba (Toshiba America) (8:25-cv-00786), asserting three patents generally related to magnetic hard disk drives—two of the patents those that a Central District of California jury found Western Digital to have infringed in a July 2024 verdict awarding $262M in damages. The third is a more recently issued member of the same family; MR Technologies has asserted it in a follow-on complaint against Western Digital as well. The plaintiff pleads knowledge based on “widespread attention in the industry”, which it characterizes as “a three-player market” comprised of these three defendants.
