Inventor-Controlled Plaintiff Accuses Samsung of Infringing Beacon Patents
Gamba Group Holdings LLC has filed what appears to be its first litigation, accusing Samsung (2:25-cv-00438) of infringing two patents generally related to providing information or location-based services to a mobile device based on its proximity to various beacons deployed within an urban environment, as well as a third patent generally related to deploying a beacon in a vehicle that is then used to provide telematics and/or location-based information. In its Eastern District of Texas complaint, this inventor-controlled plaintiff targets the provision of smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, SmartTag location tags, and “applications, features, servers[,] and services that facilitate location-based services (such as ‘SmartThings Find’ and ‘Samsung Find’ and its ‘offline finding’ feature)”.
