Litigation Counsel Seeks to Withdraw from Rothschild Representation for Nonpayment of Fees
Western District of Washington Judge Jamal N. Whitehead has set a June 3 hearing in a July 2023 case filed by Valve against Leigh M. Rothschild, his controlled entities Display Technologies, LLC, Patent Asset Management, LLC (PAM), and Rothschild Broadcast Distribution Systems, LLC, and counsel Meyler Legal PLLC (and its principal Samuel Meyler in his individual capacity). Before the court is a motion filed by the defendants’ counsel, Merchant & Gould P.C., to withdraw from the representation, as well as a motion for judgment on the pleadings. Merchant & Gould asks to withdraw because the Rothschild defendants have not paid them, to which nonpayment those defendants contend Merchant & Gould orally agreed “would be deferred and contingent upon the pending resolution of an insurance claim related to this litigation”.
