Commerce Department Reportedly Considering a Plan to Charge Patent Owners a Value-Based Fee

According to The Wall Street Journal, the Trump Administration is considering a plan that would “transform the patent system” and in the process raise tens of billions of dollars in revenue for the US government. Citing anonymous sources, the Journal reports that Commerce Department officials are actively discussing a proposal to impose a new fee on patent holders based on the value of their patents.
