Snap Sued in Social Media Invite Campaign
H.S. Treasure Contacts Ltd has sued Snap (1:25-cv-01201) in the Western District of Texas after opening this litigation campaign with a May 2025 suit in the District of DC against Voodoo (BeReal) (1:25-cv-01681). The inventor-controlled plaintiff targets Snap over the provision of its Snapchat app’s “Add Friends” feature, which allows users to “invite non-Snap users to download and install Snap”. The plaintiff alleges that this feature results in “viral distribution of the application on mobile devices”. Specifically at issue is functionality allowing such invites to be sent to a subset of people saved in a user’s contact list.
