H.S. Treasure Tags PayPal in Campaign over Referral Links
PayPal (1:25-cv-01296) is the latest defendant to be added to the sole litigation campaign of inventor-controlled H.S. Treasure Contacts Ltd, launched in May 2025 with a suit against Voodoo (BeReal). In the new Western District of Texas complaint, the plaintiff asserts a single patent generally related to the “viral distribution of applications on networked mobile devices” by sending a link to download an application to unregistered users from the user’s contact list. PayPal is accused of infringement through the provision of the Venmo app, with features for “allowing current users to send links to prospective users by accessing their phone’s contact list” at issue.
