Inventor-Controlled Texas Entity Takes Aim at Amazon’s Alexa

April 16, 2019

Vocalife LLC has filed its first lawsuit, accusing Amazon (2:19-cv-00123) of infringing a single patent generally related to a “microphone array system” that includes “a sound source localization unit, an adaptive beam forming unit, and a noise reduction unit”, each integrated with a digital signal processor. The plaintiff targets the provision of virtual assistant smart speakers and other products, including Alexa-enabled products such as the Amazon Echo, that allegedly implement such a “microphone array system”.
