March Brings Yet Another New Campaign by an Apparent IP Edge Affiliate
For the sixth month in a row, a subsidiary of patent monetization firm IP Edge LLC has started a new litigation campaign. Kaldren LLC sued Citigroup (5:17-cv-00066), General Mills (5:17-cv-00067), J.D. Power and Associates (5:17-cv-00068), NeilMed Pharmaceuticals (5:17-cv-00069), Pioneer (5:17-cv-00070), Procter & Gamble (5:17-cv-00071), and SunTrust Banks (5:17-cv-00072), asserting a family of four patents (6,098,882; 6,176,427; 6,820,807; 8,281,999) generally related to encoding digital data in a machine-readable format. The new complaints target the use of QR codes in the defendants’ products and services.

Meraloc Sues Retailers Over Verifone MX915
Meraloc LLC has added a new tranche of defendants to its sole litigation campaign, filing complaints against At Home Stores (2:16-cv-00902), Central Purchasing (Harbor Freight Tools) (2:16-cv-00903), Lowe’s (2:16-cv-00904), Nordstrom (2:16-cv-00905), and Safeway (d/b/a Tom Thumb) (2:16-cv-00907). The NPE asserts a single patent (7,451,262) generally related to a removable memory storage device having a display against the defendants, accusing them of infringement through the use of the MX915 payment terminal provided by Verifone. Only one case from Meraloc’s earlier cases remains active.

New Meraloc Campaign Targets Touch Screen Devices with Flash Memory
Newly formed Meraloc LLC has launched a litigation campaign asserting a single patent (7,451,262) generally related to a removable memory storage device with a display. The NPE has filed suit against five defendants: Apple (2:16-cv-00090), Osram Sylvania (2:16-cv-00091), Samsung (2:16-cv-00092), Timex (2:16-cv-00093), and Voxx International (2:16-cv-00094). The complaints target Apple’s iPod Touch, Timex’s Ironman smart watch, and touch screen MP3 players sold by the remaining defendants.
