Charging Campaign Zaps Samsung
New Patent Litigation
VoltStar Technologies, Inc. has added an Eastern District of Texas case against Samsung (4:24-cv-00668) to the four others filed so far this year, one against each of Encased Products, Kanex Pro, Salom America, and TOZO. More than 50 defendants have been sued in this campaign, begun over a decade ago but accelerating over the past couple of years. Defendants have been targeted over the provision of charging devices such as wall chargers and wireless charging pads, Samsung with three patents generally related to a certain “charger plugs”.

VoltStar Files New Round of Complaints in Charger Devices Campaign

Airport Retail Management (1:23-cv-05043), InMotion Entertainment (1:23-cv-05045), Hypercel (2:23-cv-09455), Nimble for Good (8:23-cv-02098), Roku (1:23-cv-09709), and Spigen (8:23-cv-02101) are the latest defendants to be sued in the litigation campaign that VoltStar Technologies, Inc. initiated in February 2012 with a suit against AT&T, the plaintiff having hit more than 40 defendants since. Across the bevy of complaints, the plaintiff asserts a single reissue patent generally related to a certain “charger plug”, with the defendants accused of infringement through the provision of various wall chargers.

Best Buy Sued in Long-Running Campaign Targeting Wall Chargers

Best Buy (1:22-cv-23995) is the latest defendant to be sued in the litigation campaign that VoltStar Technologies, Inc., initiated in August 2015 with a suit against Office Depot, the plaintiff having hit more than 20 defendants since. In the new Southern District of Florida complaint, VoltStar asserts a single reissue patent that generally relates to a certain “charger plug”. Best Buy is accused of infringement through the provision of certain Insignia-branded wall charging products.

Long-Running Litigation over Wall Chargers Snags Two More Retailers

VoltStar Technologies, Inc. has continued to file complaints in the campaign that it began back in August 2015, hitting two more retailers earlier this month: B&H Photo Video (1:22-cv-23198) in the Southern District of New York and Walgreens (1:22-cv-23198) in the Southern District of Florida. A single reissue patent is asserted in each complaint, the patent generally related to a charger plug, with VoltStar accusing B&H Photo of infringement through the provision of the iEssentials Wall Charger and Walgreens, of its Dual Port Wall Charger. Most prior cases have ended in relatively quick fashion; however, two recent defendants have filed answers in response to VoltStar’s complaints.
