Inventor and Continuing Patent Applicant Takes Aim at Streaming Media Providers
Inventor-controlled Digital Media Technologies, Inc. (DMT) has filed its first patent infringement cases, suing Amazon (4:16-cv-00244), Hulu (4:16-cv-00245), and Netflix (4:16-cv-00243) over two patents (8,964,764; 9,300,657) generally related to managing digital information. The patents-in-suit are two out of a family of five, each issuing to Philip Drope (DMT’s president and director) between October 2014 and March 2016. DMT’s complaints accuse the defendants’ digital content delivery services, including Amazon Prime and Hulu’s Plus Video Service, of infringing the ‘764 and ‘657 patents.
