Allied Telesis Added to IP Edge’s Campaign over Former Ajou U Patent

Allied Telesis (1:22-cv-01010) is the latest defendant to be added to the sole litigation campaign of Vector Licensing LLC, an entity apparently associated with Texas monetization firm IP Edge LLC. In the new complaint, filed in the District of Delaware, the NPE targets the provision of networking devices, including the TQ6602 access point, that support the 802.11ax wireless networking standard.

IP Edge Adds Four Defendants to Campaign over Former Ajou U Patent

Vector Licensing LLC, an apparent IP Edge LLC plaintiff, has expanded the litigation campaign that it began earlier this year, suing KAON (1:22-cv-00714), Nokia (1:22-cv-00711), Ubiquiti (1:22-cv-00713), and Zebra Technologies (1:22-cv-00712) in separate District of Delaware complaints. A single wireless communications patent, acquired from Ajou University, is at issue throughout, with Vector Licensing targeting the support of the 802.11ax wireless networking standard by various accused products.

IP Edge Files First Suits from Former Ajou U Portfolio

Vector Licensing LLC, an apparent IP Edge LLC plaintiff, has filed separate District of Delaware suits against Calix (1:22-cv-00264) and T-Mobile (1:22-cv-00263) over a single wireless communications patent acquired from Ajou University. Vector Licensing targets the support of the 802.11ax wireless networking standard by certain, respective defendant products, calling out the provision of the T-Mobile 5G Gateway and Calix GigaSpire BLAST u6.2 smart home system.

Networking Litigation Likely in the IP Edge Offing, with Patents from a New Source

So far this year, perennial top filer IP Edge LLC has remained firmly atop the NPE plaintiff heap, continuing to file myriad complaints, most of them at month-end, across many of its now 130+ litigation campaigns. Among its 2021 litigation activity have been eight new campaigns, asserting patents picked up from a variety of sources, including other NPEs (e.g., Empire Technology Development LLC, Mantis Messaging, Inc., Monterey Research, LLC), a sovereign patent fund (IP Bridge, Inc.), and operating companies (e.g., Kyocera); if recent assignment activity is any indication, May’s activity may include another source for litigated IP Edge patents: a university.
