Antenna Enhancement Patent Asserted Against Apple
Inventor-controlled nCAP Licensing, LLC has filed suit against Apple (2:17-cv-00905), asserting a single patent generally related to the use of special materials created to contain “nano-capacitors” to enhance antenna performance. The accused products include numerous Apple mobile devices, Mac desktops and laptops, Apple watches, Apple TVs, HomePod (not yet released), and various accessories (e.g. Magic Mouse 2, Apple Pencil, AirPods). nCAP pleads that the US Department of Defense has explored the use of its material, which can be sprayed on from a can, in “battlefield” settings since at least late 2010 and that Apple became aware of that technology through this work, as well as through various other demonstrations and interactions since that time.
