New SDNY Case Targets Syncing Telephone Numbers Across Myriad Devices
New Patent Litigation
Network Apps, LLC (f/k/a Mya Number), together with its principals Kyle Schei, and John Wantz, have accused AT&T (1:21-cv-00718) of infringing a single patent generally related to a “telephone number grouping service”. The accused product is AT&T’s NumberSync service, which allows multiple cellular devices to utilize the same phone number. The complaint also contains a breach of contract claim, further seeking correction of inventorship with respect to a certain patent family, the plaintiffs pleading that “[t]his is not a case where Plaintiffs invented some technology that was then locked away, moldering in a drawer, and AT&T ‘somehow’ found that technology and stole it. No. Here, the parties had a relationship”.
