AK Meeting IP Seems to Limp into Latest Complaint
New Patent Litigation, TPLF
Undeterred by the institution of trial over one of its patents-in-suit before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), AK Meeting IP LLC has sued Zoom Communications (6:23-cv-00062) in a new Western District of Texas complaint. The plaintiff again targets the provision of a communications platform that shows a “presenter’s pointer” during screen sharing with two patents generally related to sharing content in a distributed computing environment. AK Meeting IP initiated this campaign with multiple suits filed last March. Among them is a case against Adobe, which both filed a motion to dismiss that identified a key claim limitation that the plaintiff’s complaints allegedly fail to address and holds the patent cited as the lead prior art reference in the inter partes review (IPR) underway before the PTAB.
