Innovation Sciences Refiles Suit against Xiaomi

Innovation Sciences, LLC has dismissed its first case against Xiaomi, filed in early January, and refiled against the defendant (1:25-cv-00394), again in the Western District of Texas. The plaintiff asserts three of the six wireless communications patents from the prior complaint. Xiaomi is accused of infringement through a wide array of products—including its various air purifier, home security, mobile device, smart home, TV, and vacuum products—with device communication features (through Xiaomi’s “centralized HUB systems” or Wi-Fi) at issue.

Audible Brings DJ Action Against Audio Pod IP

Since March 2024, Audio Pod, Inc. subsidiary Audio Pod IP, LLC has filed four Eastern District of Virginia complaints against Amazon and its subsidiaries (i.e., Amazon Web Services, Amazon.com, and Audible). Now, Audible has filed an action against Audio Pod IP (1:25-cv-02158) in the Southern District of New York, seeking a declaratory judgment of noninfringement as to six patents generally related to the online playback of audiobooks, as well as related features like bookmarking and storage allocation.

Audio Pod IP Triples Down Against Amazon

Audio Pod IP, LLC has filed two more suits in the Eastern District of Virginia. The first accuses Amazon (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Audible) (1:24-cv-00914) of infringing a single patent generally related to using a “descriptor file for synchronizing a plurality of digital streams” through the provision of the Amazon CloudFront platform, content streaming services (e.g., Audible, Prime Music, and Prime Video), products (e.g., Echo Show-series devices, Fire TV products, and tablets) that use the Amazon CloudFront Delivery Network software, and related products. The second accuses Amazon (AWS) (1:24-cv-00915) of infringing four patents generally related to “rendering digital content across multiple client devices” through the provision of the Amazon Prime Music and Prime Video platforms, as well as related products. The cases follow a March 2024 complaint against Amazon from Audio Pod IP in the same district.
