ServStor Sues Broadcom and MediaTek over Patents New to This Campaign

ServStor Technologies, LLC, an IPInvestments Group LLC (d/b/a IPinvestments Group) plaintiff, has sued Broadcom (2:24-cv-00761) and MediaTek (2:24-cv-00760) in separate Eastern District of Texas complaints. Broadcom is targeted over the provision of certain “servers, routers, and systems-on-a-chip (‘SoC[s]’) that manage internet connections and storage partitions”; MediaTek, of certain “microchips, servers, routers, ethernet switches, [SoCs], and ASICs”. At issue are features such as “accelerat[ing] the transmission of packets across a network”, “communicatively coupl[ing] an apparatus to a network”, and “transmit[ting] and encapsulat[ing] packets to a target device”.

Lenovo and ZTE Snagged in ServStor’s Third Round

ServStor Technologies, LLC, an IPInvestments Group LLC (d/b/a IPinvestments Group) plaintiff, has filed a third round of litigation in its sole campaign, accusing Lenovo (2:24-cv-00204) and ZTE (2:24-cv-00205) of infringing a familiar set of five former Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV) patents in separate Eastern District of Texas complaints. The defendants are accused of infringement through the provision of certain computer servers and racks, as well as related hardware and software products.

ServStor Files a 2023 Set of Suits

Its 2022 round of cases brought to a close by a dismissal with prejudice, in light of a prior noticed settlement, of a suit against Quanta Computer, ServStor Technologies, LLC has extended its 2023 round to include Eastern District of Texas cases against Celestica (2:23-cv-00181), HP Enterprise (HPE) (2:23-cv-00182), Inspur (2:23-cv-00183), Inventec (2:23-cv-00184), and MiTAC (MiTAC Computing Technology) (2:23-cv-00185). ServStor sued Atos (2:23-cv-00106) in mid-March. Targeted is the provision of servers and related products (e.g., racks, storage systems, and software).

NPE Campaign over Patents Received from IV Snags Two More

ServStor Technologies, LLC, a plaintiff associated with Atlanta-based monetization firm IPInvestments Group LLC (d/b/a IPinvestments Group), has sued Fujitsu (2:22-cv-00250) and NEC (2:22-cv-00249) over the provision of various computing products, including servers and related products (e.g., enclosures and software). The new cases join prior suits against Acer, Quanta Computer, and Wiwynn in the Eastern District of Texas where the same five patents, of disparate subject matter and origins but all received from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV), are asserted. Those suits are in early stages before District Judge Rodney Gilstrap.

Computing Hardware Campaign Picks Up Steam

ServStor Technologies, LLC has followed its separate May 2022 suits against Quanta Computer (2:22-cv-00162) and Wiwynn (2:22-cv-00161), filed in the Eastern District of Texas, with a case against Acer (2:22-cv-00221) in the same in the district. Five patents, four originating with Crystal Group and one with Zetera, are aimed at the provision of various computing devices, including servers and related products (e.g., enclosures, server cards, and software). ServStor is the third of four entities formed last August in association with Atlanta-based monetization firm IPInvestments Group LLC (d/b/a IPinvestments Group) to launch litigation over patents subsequently received from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV).

IV Divests Hundreds of Patents to Another Group of Georgia NPEs

Public records suggest that a batch of newly formed NPEs, with apparent ties to Atlanta-based patent monetization firm IPInvestments Group LLC (d/b/a IPinvestments Group), may be gearing up to assert multiple patent portfolios received late last year from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV). The transacted portfolios—which were divested by IV in late-August 2021—comprise hundreds of US assets and include patents originating with operating companies spanning multiple industries.
