Smart Thermostat Campaign Launched, Years After Ownership Dispute Between Named Inventors and Fellow Parishioners Grows Cold
Inventor-controlled Ubiquitous Connectivity, LP has filed suit against TXU Energy Retail (6:17-cv-00433), accusing the defendant of infringement through the sale of its iThermostat, a smart home device controlled by mobile device apps. The complaint asserts the two most recently issued patents (8,064,935; 9,602,655) from a six-member family generally related to remote environmental control. Shamoon, appear to have secured investments in a business venture related to the technology purportedly covered by the earliest patents in this family through Living Word Church in North Carolina, which they attended—an effort that changed course when GE allegedly lost interest in exclusively licensing the technology.
