Second Suit Filed in Campaign over VR Patents Subject to a Prior Litigated License
New Patent Litigation
DDC Technology, LLC has filed a second lawsuit over a portfolio of patents generally related to a virtual reality “viewer” for a mobile device, accusing Digital Products International (4:21-cv-00402) of infringement through the provision of its iLive Virtual Reality headsets. The plaintiff pleads that the original assignee of the patents, DODOcase VR (f/k/a DODOcase), retains a financial interest in them, the patents having been transferred during earlier litigation over an alleged breach of a license agreement—a breach that DodoCase VR contends imposed “extensive expenses to the point that [DodoCase VR] was compelled to sell its rights to the [patents] and the royalty payments under the [license agreement] to DDC”.
