Redstone Logics Adds Three to Its Multicore Processing Campaign
New Patent Litigation
Redstone Logics, LLC has filed Western District of Texas cases against AMD (7:25-cv-00182), Apple (7:25-cv-00183), and NVIDIA (7:25-cv-00184). There, separate 2024 suits against MediaTek, NXP Semiconductors, and Qualcomm were transferred in February 2025 by agreement from District Judge David Counts to District Judge Alan D. Albright. The cases concern a single multicore processing patent, a claim construction order concerning which was handed down by Magistrate Judge Derek T. Gilliland just before transfer. This past week, Redstone and MediaTek noticed a resolution of their dispute.

Disparate Entities Assign, Receive US Patent Assets
Patent Market, Patent Watch, TPLF
Recorded patent assignments recently made public reveal a new Texas entity operated by a familiar and funded monetization team picking up a semiconductor portfolio; a networking entity previously backed by Fortress Investment Group LLC moving a traffic management portfolio onto the market; an IoT provider transferring all of its US patent assets during a “controlled recapitalization”; a Texas entity tied to an now-established operation topping off a prior acquisition, here with a video communications patent and a network collaboration patent; and the continued Delaware-to-Texas flow of patents by a named inventor awaiting the lift of a Northern District of California stay, that lift increasingly likely given a long list of inter partes reviews (IPRs) and ex parte reexaminations (EPR) seeming to draw to an end.

Yet More Noteworthy Patent Transfers Recently Made Public
Patent Market, Patent Watch
USPTO assignment records recently made public contain various other patent transfers worth noting, beyond the grant of security interests by five patent holders to the same secured party and the apparent construction of a new patent portfolio by Texas monetization firm Dominion Harbor Enterprises, LLC. Among them is a pair of transfers from an operating company to a recently formed Delaware entity suggestively located, the move of a single patent from a set of named inventors to an entity tied to a relatively new entrant to the monetization scene, and assignments from various sources, including a university, to an established monetization team.

More Patent Assignments, Some Recorded, One Merely Announced, Prefigure Future Campaigns
Patent Market, Patent Watch
One well-established monetization operation has announced the acquisition of a portfolio of patents from Innolux, while another is the recipient of yet another batch of patents assembled and divested from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV). Meanwhile, a newer monetization team has picked up a set of patents from an operating company in a move suggesting that litigation over the received assets is coming.

Cobblestone Wireless Sues Two New Defendants Outside the Eastern District of Texas
New Patent Litigation
Texas plaintiff Cobblestone Wireless, LLC has filed new complaints, one against Apple (7:24-cv-00232) in the Western District of Texas and another against Lenovo (Motorola Mobility) (1:24-cv-08726) in the Northern District of Illinois. Two patents are asserted against each defendant, both patents previously asserted in this campaign, which began back in December 2022 with separate cases filed against AT&T (AT&T Mobility), Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile), and Verizon (Verizon Wireless). Ericsson and Nokia intervened in that litigation, which appears to be drawing to a close, as an Eastern District of Texas trial previously set for this month before Chief Judge Rodney Gilstrap has been removed from the calendar.

Redstone Logics Hits Qualcomm as Well
New Patent Litigation
This past January Redstone Logics, LLC sued MediaTek and NXP Semiconductors in a pair of Western District of Texas complaints. Now, the Texas plaintiff has added a case against Qualcomm (7:24-cv-00231), asserting the same patent already in suit, a patent generally related to a multicore processor with two sets of processor cores where each has its own supply voltage and an independent PLL (“phase-locked loop”) clock signal. Infringement allegations target “products comprising one or more SoC each comprising two or more sets of processors implementing or based on the DynamIQ Shared Unit architecture (e.g., ARMv8.2, ARMv9, ARMv9.2, and successors) or big.LITTLE architecture, including without limitation the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform”.

Redstone Logics Sues Chipmakers
New Patent Litigation
The deadline for Samsung to respond to the October 2023 complaint that Redstone Logics, LLC filed against it in the Eastern District of Texas has been pushed into early February. In the meantime, Redstone has filed two new cases, one against each of MediaTek (7:24-cv-00029) and NXP Semiconductors (7:24-cv-00028), both in the Western District of Texas. Cobblestone Wireless Runs with That “Fifth” Patent
New Patent Litigation
This past August, Texas plaintiff Cobblestone Wireless, LLC filed a second trio of suits against AT&T (AT&T Mobility), Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile), and Verizon (Verizon Wireless). In the first set of complaints, filed in December 2022, Cobblestone asserted four former Empire Technology Development LLC patents, but in April of this year, the plaintiff picked up a batch of patents from a new source, circling back to assert one of those patents against each of the three wireless carriers. Now, Cobblestone has accused Cisco (2:23-cv-00454), HP Enterprise (HPE) (Aruba Networks) (2:23-cv-00457), and CommScope (ARRIS) (2:23-cv-00455) of infringing that same, more recently acquired, “fifth” asserted patent.

Cobblestone Wireless Circles Back
New Patent Litigation
Last December, Cobblestone Wireless, LLC filed a trio of Eastern District of Texas complaints, one against each of AT&T (AT&T Mobility), Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile), and Verizon (Verizon Wireless) over the alleged infringement of the same four former Empire Technology Development LLC patents. A June complaint against Samsung followed, with Cobblestone asserting those four patents as well as a fifth, the new patent acquired in the intervening months, and now the plaintiff has circled back to accuse the same three wireless carriers—AT&T (AT&T Mobility) (2:23-cv-00380), T-Mobile (2:23-cv-00381), and Verizon Wireless (2:23-cv-00382)—of infringing that fifth patent, in another set of Eastern District of Texas complaints.
