Minotaur Systems Files Third Round of Suits in Vehicle Networking Campaign
New Patent Litigation
Following a dismissal of its last active case in early January, Minotaur Systems LLC has filed a new round of complaints in its sole litigation campaign, suing AnyConnect Private (2:24-cv-00201) in the Eastern District of Texas; Motive Technologies (1:24-cv-00349), Nauto (1:24-cv-00351), Netradyne (1:24-cv-00352), and Samsara (1:24-cv-00353) in the District of Delaware; Safe Fleet Holdings (1:24-cv-02062) in the Eastern District of New York; and Trimble (1:24-cv-00789) in the District of Colorado. Two patents are asserted in overlapping sets, with the defendants accused of infringement through the provision of vehicle-related networking products, including dash cams (or systems incorporating them) and/or fleet management solutions.

Vehicle Connectivity Campaign Snags Wireless Carriers

Minotaur Systems LLC has added Eastern District of Texas cases against AT&T (AT&T Mobility) (2:23-cv-00344) and Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile) (2:23-cv-00346) to the campaign that the Texas plaintiff began this past April with separate suits against GeoTab and Verizon. Targeted in these newer complaints are the provision of automobile-related networking products, including fleet management solutions, roadside assistance systems, and in-car Wi-Fi systems. A settlement has already ended the case against Verizon, while District Judge Rodney Gilstrap presides over the GeoTab suit, still in the earliest stages.

Minotaur Systems Initiates Campaign over Former Trak Global Patents

Minotaur Systems LLC—a plaintiff connected with a familiar patent monetization figure—has filed its first litigation, suing GeoTab (2:23-cv-00152) and Verizon (2:23-cv-00151) in a pair of Eastern District of Texas complaints. The four patents-in-suit, asserted in overlapping sets and originally developed at Trak Global Group, are broadly directed to various aspects of vehicle connectivity technologies. The defendants are targeted over the provision of products such as fleet management solutions, roadside assistance systems, and in-car Wi-Fi systems.

Recent Patent Assignments Make Their USPTO Debut

Patent assignments executed in late 2022 and early 2023 continue to surface among USPTO data, with several transactions hinting at possible litigation campaigns to come. The assignees include a newly surfaced Atlantic IP Services Limited NPE, multiple NPEs apparently associated with a familiar figure in patent monetization, and an NPE that—according to public records—has received funding from a prominent litigation finance firm.
