New Location-Based Content Campaign Launched
New Patent Litigation
Map Mobile, LLC has filed its first lawsuit, accusing Burger King (2:17-cv-00774) of infringing a single patent, generally related to the interaction on a mobile device between a “mapping application” with another app to display “location-based content”, which the plaintiff acquired from monetization firm Empire IP LLC in April 2017. Burger King is accused of infringement through provision of its mobile app, which allegedly works in concert with a “mapping application” in communication with an “online mapping service”—with Apple Maps given as an example—to display “map-able content”. Map Mobile is the third of four Texas NPEs created over the past several years, in similar circumstances, to assert former Empire IP patents in litigation.
