Wireless Charging Campaign Sees Round Two

Taiwanese plaintiff IFPower Co., Ltd. has sued Anker (1:23-cv-01499), Evercel (ZAGG) (1:23-cv-01501), and OnePlus (1:23-cv-01500) in the Western District of Texas over the provision of wireless charging products that are compliant with certain WPC Qi wireless charging standards. February 2023 cases against Apple and Samsung over the same two wireless charging patents ended in early November, after Apple filed a motion to dismiss IFPower’s second amended complaint for pleading inadequacies and challenging one of the two patents under Alice.

Apple and Samsung Sued in Separate Complaints Alleging Infringement of the Same Two Wireless Charging Patents
New Patent Litigation
IFPower Co., Ltd., a Taiwanese plaintiff, has filed what appears to be its first US litigation, accusing Apple (1:23-cv-00205) and Samsung (1:23-cv-00210) of infringing two patents through the provision of devices that support wireless charging in compliance with certain WPC (Wireless Power Consortium) Qi wireless charging standards. The cases have been filed in the Western District of Texas, the plaintiff having yet to file its accompanying corporate disclosure statements.
