Funded VASU Holdings Sues Samsung in First Litigation

Inventor-controlled VASU Holdings LLC has filed its first litigation, suing Samsung (2:24-cv-00034) in the Eastern District of Texas over six patents broadly directed to various aspects of wireless telecommunications. The defendant is accused of infringement through the provision of various Galaxy-series phones and tablets, as well as certain Samsung WLAN Access Point-series products. At issue are the products’ compliance with the IEEE 802.11e networking standard (and related incorporation of a Voice-aware Traffic Scheduler (VaTS)) and settings for switching between mobile and Wi-Fi network connections.

New Litigation Funding Operation Stands Up

A set of security interests executed last month, subsequently recorded and recently made public by the USPTO, has brought a new source of patent litigation funding into view. Six entities granted these interests to the same secured party, and three of those entities have already initiated litigation, suing defendants in the mobile communications and content distribution spaces.
