De Novo IP Shifts from Patent Analysis to Patent Assertion with Subsidiary’s New Suit Against Cisco
Recently formed California NPE, Ipsilium LLC, has filed its first lawsuit, suing Cisco (4:17-cv-07179) over two patents that the plaintiff acquired from named inventor Dr. Shrikumar (“Shri”) Hariharasubrahmanian this past May. The patents generally relate to packet processing based on predicting subsequent header values before actual receipt; Ipsilium accuses Cisco of infringement through provision of low-latency network switches, including “the Nexus 3000 switches [the Nexus 3524 and Nexus 3548], the UCS Mini 6324, any other Cisco products implementing the Algo Boost technology, any other Cisco products that have a substantially similar ASIC, and/or any other Cisco products that perform header prediction and packet processing in substantially the same manner”.
