Number of Defendants in LED Driver Campaign May Have Already Passed Its Apogee

Early in January, LED Apogee LLC sued Analog Devices and Microchip Technology in separate Eastern District of Texas complaints, as well as NXP Semiconductors (NXP USA), in the Western District of Texas. Four days later, the plaintiff hit MediaTek (6:24-cv-00023) and STMicro (6:24-cv-00027), both also in West Texas, both also targeted over the provision of LED drivers (the RT4539 and STLED524, respectively) with a single patent generally related to “driving a light emitting diode coupled to an output of a current mirror”.

Delaware Plaintiff with Familiar Connections Launches LED Driver Campaign

LED Apogee LLC has filed separate complaints against Analog Devices (2:24-cv-00019) and Microchip Technology (2:24-cv-00020) in the Eastern District of Texas, as well as against NXP Semiconductors (NXP USA) (6:24-cv-00021) in the Western District of Texas. The Delaware plaintiff targets the provision of LED drivers—including the ADM8845 Charge Pump Driver for LCD White LED backlights, MC34844 10 Channel LED Backlight Driver with Integrated Power Supply, and MIC22974 0V PWM Boost Regulator White LED Driver, respectively—with a single patent generally related to “driving a light emitting diode coupled to an output of a current mirror”.
