Inventor-Controlled C47 Technologies Sues Lenovo and TCL over Camera Functionalities

Following its inaugural case against Samsung last month, inventor-controlled C47 Technologies LLC has now filed suit against Lenovo (Motorola Mobility) (2:24-cv-00406) and TCL Technology (TCT Mobile US) (2:24-cv-00417), both in the Eastern District of Texas. The sole asserted patent, also at issue in the first case, generally relates to image capturing and processing. The defendants are accused of infringement through the provision of smartphones with camera arrays that incorporate multiple digital cameras and/or sensors. At issue is the support for certain camera features, such as Portrait Mode.

Inventor-Backed Plaintiff Targets Mobile Devices with Multiple Digital Cameras

C47 Technologies LLC has filed what appears to be its first US patent case, suing Samsung (2:24-cv-00372) in the Eastern District of Texas. The inventor-controlled plaintiff accuses Samsung of infringing a single patent generally related to image capturing and processing through the provision of mobile devices with multiple digital cameras “that enable users of the Samsung products to use applications and features including, but not limited to, Samsung’s Dual Capture, Live Focus, Portrait Mode, and Portrait Video features”.
