QoS Campaign Grows Again

Vision Sphere Labs LLC has added two Western District of Texas suits—one against each of Lantronix (1:25-cv-00334) and Rubicon Communications (1:25-cv-00332)—to the campaign that it started last fall with separate Eastern District of Texas cases against Grandstream Networks and Firewalla and expanded earlier this year against Perle Systems and FS.com in the same district. Targeted throughout has been the provision of routers, switches, and platforms that support certain QoS (“Quality of Service”) features.

Texas Plaintiff Expands Campaign over Former Harris Patents

In January, Vision Sphere Labs LLC expanded its sole litigation campaign with suits against FS.com (2:25-cv-00075) and Perle Systems (2:25-cv-00079) in the Eastern District of Texas. The two asserted patents—each originating with Harris Corporation (which merged with L3 Technologies to become L3Harris in 2019)—are broadly directed to network Quality of Service (QoS) technologies. The defendants are accused of infringement over the support of certain QoS technologies in their respective routers, switches, and platforms.

Newly Recorded Assignments Track Recent Campaigns, Foreshadow Others

Last month’s review of notable patent assignments considered the movement of assets from Avaya to Dominion Harbor Enterprises, LLC; from Level 3 Communications to Sandpiper CDN, LLC; from Seiko Epson to IPValue’s 138 East LCD Advancements Ltd. and Lumitek Display Technology Ltd.; from Transaction Security to a “BioCrypt Access”; from Fortress Investment Group LLC’s KIP Prod P1 LP to Prodea Automation LLC; from EMM Patents Ltd. to Empire IP LLC; from Siemens and Abdelsalam Helal to Rokiot USA LLC; and from Proxicom Wireless, LLC to Secure Communication Technologies, LLC. While a couple of these entities again feature prominently, this month’s review extends well beyond them to cover the movement of patents away from other operating companies, as well as within several repeat monetization players.
