NetMomentum? More Like “NetConfusion”

Since mid-October, a plaintiff calling itself “NetMomentum LLC” has fired off five lawsuits, one against each of ASUSTek, Panasonic, Samsung, VTech Holdings, and Yealink Network Technology. In its complaints, all filed in the Eastern District of Texas, the plaintiff characterizes itself as a Delaware entity located at a New York, New York address. However, an assignment record recently made public by the USPTO has raised questions about the accuracy of those representations, perhaps calling into question the standing of this plaintiff, as characterized, to sue.

NetMomentum Adds Case Against Samsung to One of Its New Campaigns

A couple of weeks ago, NetMomentum LLC launched its first litigation, suing ASUSTek over a patent entitled “Semi-transparent RFID tags” while hitting Panasonic, VTech Holdings, and Yealink Network Technology with a single patent generally related to a base station that handles both mobile and landline telephone calls. Now, the Delaware plaintiff has sued Samsung (2:24-cv-00888) over the patent already in suit against ASUSTek, as well as over a second patent, broadly directed to a mobile device with displays on both sides. Accused products highlighted in the claim charts attached to the new Eastern District of Texas complaint are the Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy Flip 6, respectively.

NetMomentum Asserts Kotab-Connected Patents Across Two New Campaigns

Apparent Delaware plaintiff NetMomentum LLC has filed its first litigation, launching two campaigns by suing ASUSTek (2:24-cv-00841) over a patent entitled “Semi-transparent RFID tags” in one campaign and in the other, Panasonic (2:24-cv-00844), VTech Holdings (2:24-cv-00843), and Yealink Network Technology (2:24-cv-00846), each over a single patent generally related to a base station that handles both mobile and landline telephone calls. Against ASUSTek, NetMomentum targets the provision of the Zenfone 9 smartphone, focusing in the other three complaints on the provision of telephones with a base unit and a wireless handset. All four complaints have been filed in the Eastern District of Texas.
