New Complaint in Semiconductor Campaign Filed Against Acer, MediaTek, and Rockchip
New Patent Litigation
Computer Circuit Operations LLC has sued Acer, MediaTek, and Rockchip (6:20-cv-00419) in a single Western District of Texas complaint over the provision of devices (e.g., tablets, Chromebooks, SoCs, etc.) that feature Double Data Rate (DDR) controllers (e.g., DDR3, DDR4, LPDDR3, LPDDR4, and/or LPDDR4x controller). Infringement allegations against Acer focus on mobile devices that use certain Mediatek Systems-on-Chip (SoCs) and Rockchip SoCs, with allegations as to Mediatek and Rockchip directed to the supplied SoCs themselves. The new case joins active suits filed separately in the same district against Marvell and Socionext this past January; cases against Arastu Systems and VIA Technologies have both been dismissed with prejudice.

Targeted is the provision of devices and systems (e.g., processors, microcontrollers, and gateways) that feature certain Double Data Rate (DDR) controllers (e.g., DDR3, DDR4, LPDDR3, LPDDR4, and LPDDR4x controllers), with multiple asserted patents received from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV), which retains an interest in the outcome of Computer Circuit’s litigation.
