Following Non-Infringement Jury Verdict, Inventor Ready for a Rematch over LCD Backlight Patent
Samsung has been sued by Masakazu Ushijima, an inventor based in Tokyo, who accuses the company of infringing a single patent (5,495,405) generally related to LCD backlight inverter circuits (1:16-cv-00585). This is the second time that Ushijima has asserted the ‘405 patent against Samsung following a 2012 lawsuit (1:12-cv-00318) that went to trial in February 2015. In that case, a Texas jury found in March 2015 that Samsung had not infringed the patent-in-suit through the sale of various televisions and computer monitors.
