Head-Mounted Light Patent Asserted Against Microsoft, Targeting the HoloLens
Optimization Strategies, LLC, an entity recently formed in Florida, has filed suit against Microsoft (9:17-cv-81042), accusing the company of infringing a single patent generally related to a head-mounted light. The complaint accuses Microsoft of infringement through the provision of its HoloLens “mixed reality” headsets. The NPE’s complaint points to five lights on the HoloLens indicating battery life as “a first light source configured to emit a beam of white light in a first direction that is away from a head of a user” and to the device’s projector as “a second light source configured to emit a beam of blue light in a second direction that is towards the head of the user and is different to the first direction”, both recited claim elements.
