On-demand Media Accused of Infringing FutureVision Patent
The three new cases filed by FutureVision.com LLC indicate that the entity is building what was previously a single suit into a larger campaign, naming Cox Communication, CSC Holdings, and Verizon as defendants. Defendants’ interactive television network broadcast systems are accused of infringing the asserted patent (5877755). FutureVision’s previous suit against Time Warner Cable asserted the same patent and involved a similar accused product. The patent-in-suit relates to delivering media from a central broadcast server and downloading it to a consumer’s equipment. FutureVision’s case against Time Warner is still ongoing. The entity developed the patented technology while it was still an operating company under the name FutureVision of America. It was then assigned to Futurevision.com LLC in 1999. 7/2, District of Delaware, 1:14cv00869, 1:14cv00870, 1:14cv00871
