Individual Inventors Target Apple and Sony Devices with Imaging Sensors
Two named inventors, Steven M. Shaw and Venson M. Shaw, have filed a single case (5:17-cv-00066) against Apple and Sony. The complaint asserts a patent (6,359,241) generally related to a “sensor and memory device” for capturing and memorializing an “external event” for a “long lasting period of time”. Apple is accused of infringement through the provision of devices with cameras that use CCD and/or CMOS imaging sensors, including those made by Sony. Sony is alleged to infringe through the provision of those sensors for Apple and through the use of Sony sensors in its own devices, including its “cameras, security systems, smartphones, tablet computers, and other products”.
