Mobile Devices Targeted by New NPE with Former Lite-On Patent
The American arm of Samoan company EJT Technologies sued Huawei, Kyocera, and ZTE in the entity’s first group of patent assertion filings. Defendants’ mobile devices, specifically mobile phones, are accused of infringing a single patent (6,223,295). The patent-in-suit relates to a remote control system for saving power and prolonging batter life in a separate device. It was acquired from Lite-On Technology in 2011. The asserted patent originated with Silitek, a company that merged with Lite-On Technology in 2002. RPX saw the patent-in-suit as part of an open market opportunity in 2011, shortly before it was assigned to Lite-On Technology. 11/1, Northern District of California, 3:13cv05110, 3:13cv05111, 3:13cv05112
