Advanced Media Networks Adds a Case, Perhaps Within a Window Between Stays
In a campaign marked by multiple past stays, in light of serial re-examination proceedings, and potential future stays, in light of recently filed petitions for inter partes review (IPR), Advanced Media Networks, LLC (AMN) has added another case, this one against Emerging Markets Communications and Maritime Telecommunications Network (0:16-cv-60475). The new complaint asserts two related patents (5,960,074; 6,445,777) that generally concern the use of a mobile hub that uses “ethernet packet switching protocols” to facilitate communications between a wireless LAN and a satellite/microwave WAN. Generally, the campaign has targeted systems for providing wireless communications on board vehicles (e.g. cars, airplanes, cruise ships, etc.).

Verizon Added to Advanced Media Networks Campaign
Advanced Media Networks, LLC (AMN) sued Verizon and T-Mobile, asserting a patent related to providing wireless network access to devices through a central communication hub (5,960,074). AMN’s previous suits all asserted the ‘074 patent, and several of its cases also assert a second patent in the same family (6,445,777). Defendant’s wireless telecommunications network that allows users to transfer voice and other data between devices is accused of infringing the patent-in-suit.
