Jury Invalidates Two Digital Reg Patents
Following a ten-day trial against Adobe, a Northern California jury found two Digital Reg of Texas patents to be invalid due to obviousness. Digital Reg sued Adobe, AVG, Electronic Arts, Intuit, Symantec, UbiSoft, Valve, and Zynga in the Eastern District of Texas in April 2011, alleging infringement of a group of patents related to permission-based access to digital content (6,389,541, 6,751,670, 7,127,515, 7,272,655, 7,562,150, 7,673,059, 7,421,741). The complaint accused defendants’ software and services that utilize digital rights management (DRM) technology of infringing the patents-in-suit.
