District Judge William Bryson dismissed two consolidated TQP Development suits against Hertz, Intuit, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Yelp, and refused to enforce settlement agreements TQP signed with the companies. TQP filed suit against Intuit in April 2012, alleging the company’s websites infringed a patent related to data encryption (5,412,730); a year later, the litigation was designated as lead case in a group of seven consolidated actions that included TQP’s suit against Hertz (2:12cv00180). A second group of similar cases involving more than 20 defendants was consolidated in July 2013 and included LinkedIn, Twitter, and Yelp (2:13cv00219).

A Texas circuit judge granted Intuit and Hertz summary judgment of non-infringement in a litigation initiated by TQP Development. The serial NPE filed suit against Intuit in April 2012, alleging the company’s websites infringed a patent related to data encryption (5,412,730); a year later, the litigation was designated as lead case in a group of seven consolidated actions that included TQP’s suit against Hertz. By January 2014, when Intuit and Hertz made their second attempt at summary judgment, they were the only defendants left in the case.
